What do pirates, Mick Jagger and Dance4Liberation have in common?

Cheryl is a local Wilmington, NC designer preparing to tear up Raleigh, NC with D4L at La Vie: A Fashion Show June 3rd. Cheryl has two fashion lines, ReVint and STºC (pronounced Saint T not S-T-C).
ReVint is a more casual, day-to-day style that is made from vintage, reclaimed and reused items. Reinvented, re-vintage, ReVint. It's a clever play on words. STºC is the grown up version with a little more glamor, a little risqué. It's edgy with vegan leather, silk and more luxurious materials. She threw in the words gore-y, blood, pirates? But warns you not to think of Metallica. More like Mick Jagger, her fashion icon. Mick, Steven and Keith, oh and her dad.. the guys she thinks of as she browses the aisles of the mens department to pretend to pick out the perfect birthday present for a boyfriend or a fathers day gift for her daddy then hopes they have it in a small (Xsmall really, she is tiny!). Veryyyyy sneaky.
As far as the pirate fascination, she has been collecting Pirate inspired wearables for the past few years. She loves the grungy feel of chunky bracelets or necklaces, heavy boots and printed silk scarves. The male rockstars that inspire her stems from her love of their jet lagged look. The exotic wardrobe that looks like they threw on the closest (and most expensive) items laying around their hotel room bed, lit a cigarette, piled into the limo and hopped on the plane. Thrilling!
Lastly, I asked her what she wanted the readers to leave with. She believes in a strong personality and that an interesting person is always more tolerable than an attractive one with nothing behind their looks. She says, "pretty fades but interesting stays." It does. This shines through in her wardrobe and designs.
